The Practice:
• During a 2 1/2 day Workshop, four community issues will be addressed resulting in action commitments from each of the participants.
• The first 1/2 day will be of inspirational and motivational intent, painting with broad strokes the four issues deemed most pressing to our community, and a calling forth of creative and action-oriented energies.
• The remaining two days will be divided into 4 sections. Each section will focus on one of the issues and will begin with a moderated panel discussion, consisting of a local educator or academic, a spiritual leader, a government official, a business leader, and a citizen, each selected due to their involvement in and expertise on the particular issue, yet approaching from differing angles of vision.
• After each panel discussion, inspired by what they just heard, participants will be encouraged to break into small groups, brain storm, team up and start formulating commitments.
• At the end of each day, all will gather and share what they have learned, answering the question, "What can I do to manifest love for my fellow earthly beings"
• A community board will be available where the participants can post their ideas, their call for volunteers, their offering of resources
• The wrap-up on the final day will include the turning in of participant's written and signed commitments of action. These will be posted publicly (nothing like peer pressure to keep us on track).
To expect a world of peace to grow out of self-indulgent violent dealings that destroy truth, erode trust, deplete and pollute our environment, and leave the poor poorer and the rich richer is a fallacy of madmen.
